Week 23: Episode 4
Alright guys, it is onscreen offscreen back with another episode. We are going to start with one of my favorite series that Josh is going through, primal Hunter Book three. Um, I wanna start by just telling Josh that he is wrong. I reread the king of the forest fight, yes, it says that he's critically low on manna and on health. It says that he says the manna is recovering. Quickly. has plenty of stamina. It specifically talks about that. And when he goes into his bloodline at the very end and becomes more animalistic, he is an animal that is attacking and he is attacking, using stamina on a opponent and on prey that is very, very low health and just needs to be finished and destroyed. And he specifically says that if it wasn't for this being a zone event and the zone event ending. Because he finishes the quest, something they established earlier on in the book series to give an actual reason for him getting healed, that he would have died. Everything is well established. I don't think it's cheesy. I actually think it's really well written. I think I was wrong when I said that last week. I re-listened to it and I think you're flat out wrong, like completely.

I used to burn through books because in my last position at the current company I'm at, I was working overnight at night, walking around an empty warehouse, uh, working security, being bored, and had a 40 minute. Commute. So I had a lot of time to listen.

And while I'm at work, I no longer can listen as much as I used to. So I found, I figured it out though because we said we both wanted to listen to book three this week and it was coming up and I was like, I haven't even started book three. How am I going to fix my A DHD brain to get through this? And the answer to that question is farming simulator, because it visually and physically occupies me, but does not audibly OCC occupy me at all.

It makes no sense to me how you could be playing this super sad part of a game with storytelling in your elements where Cortana is doing whatever and you're just jamming out to shine down. That that doesn't make sense to me at all. I cannot do it. I cannot listen to other things while playing something at all. But farming simulator works'cause I don't need to listen to it and it's just peaceful. It's just like chiller fun game, whatever I've been going through and I've been trying to test which crop actually makes the most amount of money. I've just been playing farming simulator and listening to Primal Hunter Book three, and I'm able to listen and occupy visually, physically, audibly, without any kind of crossover or confusion. So it works great for my A DHD. That being said, book three is so good.

josh-dietrich_4_03-12-2025_143238:to understand the the lizard guy more. Um. He's building his connection. I'm starting to question his morality and his intentions a little bit. I'm very excited to find out if he's gonna end up being the big bad at the end of the series, because that's a possibility that I think they're building up to, specifically with me seeing Jake go. Opposite morally than the lizard guy, but just not knowing because the lizard guy is who, whoever knows where out in space. Um, I'm very excited to see why Jacob was chosen for his role to be close to Jake, but then was told to stay away from Jake for the time being. That is also very interesting to me. We have found out that there's gonna be a World's Summit, whatever that means, and Jake and Jacob are going to be there. This is very much a building up, an establishing book. We have some really great fights. They are with creatures and with monsters, but it's, it's gotten bigger, it's gotten more interesting, it's gotten more dynamic. He's trying more things like when he tries to take out the elemental from far away by shooting Arking his shots and cheesing the elemental like we do in games when we play them, we're like, oh, if he is only gonna come to here and then get bored and turn around, I'm just gonna try and shoot my arrow and ark my shot so that he just never encounters me. Right. Um, love that. That is so much more interesting to me than I shot a deer. And again and again, and he's still alive because he has a shield with his. This is so much more interesting. I love the Hawk storyline. It's so good.

We have his wife and we have his kid, and I know that that kid is gonna become a powerhouse that Jake is gonna be. Piled up with and it's gonna be awesome. Um, Miranda is developing the colony and it's very interesting to me. Well, I don't know if interesting is the right word, because it's very inconsistent too with him saying, if people come, we'll have to take it day by day. And then in book three, they're like actively recruiting new members to the town. It's kind of a different take than what they established it was gonna be, but. I'm loving her role and how she's taking it, and her getting the blessing and finding out about Gods, and then Jake having to be like, stop worshiping me. Be normal again. I'm 100% convinced that they're gonna have some sort of romance and I'm all on board for it. I'm also, I don't even know. Originally at the end of book two, I was like, oh, him and Carmen, let's go. The boxer and she's just awesome. And he's awesome. But then Miranda's cool and I'm like, well, she and him like, that's cool too. And then there's the slave girl and I'm like, but she's cool too. And she's gonna do, okay. So here's my prediction. I predict Carmen and Jake are gonna date, I believe Slave Girl is gonna become Jake's apprentice or sidekick. That's my prediction.

I like all of these relationships and I'm like, if Jake ends up with her, I'm cool with that. If Jake ends up with her, I'm cool with that. And I. I love what they do with, with all of the characters. I, I, I love all of them, especially the slave girl. I love the Slave Girl story. I love it. Um, and I still, I I, it, I'm not gonna spoil that. I'm not gonna spoil that, but I like all of the interactions. Um. Sophie, the, the Hawk baby is one of my favorite characters in the entire series, and she absolutely turns into a badass, and I love Sophie. Um, the part where. get into it, but she gets a, she eventually gets a blessing from a certain God, and it is fantastic. It's one of my favorite parts of the whole series. episode. I, this, this book. I love hockey. I love how hockey like picks him on the head and is like, fly better, fly better. You suck. Why don't you get better? And then realizes that he is getting better and that he is actually terrifying. I like hockey going back and trying to. Take care of his baby. And that's like the, the entire purpose of everything. I like the little interaction with hockey and Misty, his wife, and how hockey's just kind of taking p advantage of Jake and Misty is like, knock that shit off now. I love that. I love, um, I love the lizard, God. I love VI a lot. I think he's just a really good character and I love their relationship with Jake and vi. I don't think they write men's relationships very well in a lot of things, but this one feels like a good, like buddy's kind of relationship that isn't written very often.

I like Miranda and I like the whole aspect with her figuring out how big of a deal Jake really is and being kind of intimidated and the Jake wanting to be treated normal. And I like how that plays out further in the series where he really doesn't want all this attention, but it's just going to come anyway. And how does he deal with that? And you, you get little glimpses of that as you're dealing with Miranda. Um, there's just a lot of good, I like, I like all the boss fights in it. The fight where he is the elemental and he is doing the long range shots is one of my favorite little things in the, in the entire story because of what you said, gamers absolutely will find ways to tease everything they possibly can, and that is just such a good little addition. I,

And I like that he can come back to all of these different things. Like he's building a world that he uses later on. He uses the clouds later in the book series. He uses space later in the book series. He uses the ad academy that gets mentioned that he eventually goes to later in the book series. It's just the world becomes a deme, uh, dynamic of the story that it can come back to over and over and over again. It's. I love the series. I love the series.

Jake and the re the other nine of them, because the nine of them are in the shell and Jake is like pissed off and angry and he's just gonna come back and kill. And then he becomes like, this mediator that's like, so what's your point of view? No, you shut up. It's their turn. Okay, now it's your turn. You shut up what's, and everybody's just like, who is this guy?

josh-dietrich_4_03-12-2025_143238:Yeah. And then they're like, okay, let's fight. Let's do this. And he is like, you're dead. You're dead. And they're like, oh crap. Um, anyway, such a good fight. Uh, I mentioned it in the last episode. Yes. They in, they did the easy excuse to hate them. But I think it worked in this situation, especially with the weapon that he got. And oh, by the way, so cool that Jake is like, I'm gonna manipulate that using Mind Magic to make it work for me.

Even my least favorite with the deer and the badgers in book two is not like a terribly bad action sequence. It's just like not as good as any of the other ones. Um, yeah, and we're building up where I, I'm hoping that there's gonna be a romance and I have three characters in mind, and I'd be happy with any of the three of them. I'm also, I really hope that Jake gets to a point where he does adopt a side cake or like take in, uh, Alchemist student. Because I think it would be really good for the community that he is building'cause they need potions and nobody else in that community can do it besides him.

You're establishing a whole city of people. You've got Jacobs community and what's going on over there? You've got Gods in the universe doing whatever the heck they're doing, and you're only vaguely touching on them, fighting over territories. And when they're talking about territories, they're talking about whole. Freaking worlds and universes and

Like they, they'd been practicing on YouTube making these little short films over and over again, and then they make a horror movie that is just good on basically every level. I was very impressed with how much I was looking forward to this movie. I was just pleasantly surprised and happy that it actually delivered for me. I like it a lot. What did you think?

I like that the vampires feel threatening they feel like they feel the creepy vibe, but they still have that eighties feel to'em. It doesn't come across to me as just being completely ridiculous. There's just a little bit of a cheese factor because it's an eighties movie. I like the. The, the area that you're going to. I like Santa Monica. And how like dark and gritty it feels and like there is a predator that's being hunted here. I like the, uh, aspect of the brother and his girlfriend. I like the brother kind of ignoring the younger brother, the main character and how that family dynamic goes. The family dynamic feels real to me in this movie. I love the main two characters. And then I found out that they are reigniting fate, which is a game that Steven and I played when we were like eight or nine or 10.'cause we couldn't play rated versions of these kind of games. So I bought the fate package was like$5 and came with the three games and I was like, I'm gonna try it again. And I was like, I forgot that you could do this with a dog. It's great. It's honestly not that terrible of a game. You might have a great time with it. It's just very basic. You're just a kid. You just dungeon crawl. That is it.
