Hey guys. It is onscreen offscreen back with one last episode this week. We talk about movies, books, all that good stuff. We are in search of movies and books that inspire us to be better people. In the last episode, we talked about Pitt and how it made Josh want to be a better manager and thank the people that are in his life and we're constantly looking for material like that. Um. Josh, let's start with you and we can do one of your topics first, whichever one you want. Okay? Yep. Yeah. That was me. It was like, it was decent. It was a decent movie, but that's about it. I think it was terrible. Okay. Okay. That was a problem for sure. Oh yeah. But how did he have the ability to do all of that? Where did he get the machines to be able to do that? Like. He has the time and you just get past the security and nobody questions this guy who's doing that. I don't. Ugh. Okay. Okay. I felt like it was so much there. Yeah, you do have to. You do have to suspend your disbelief for most of the, uh, for all of those. You do. You do. Yeah. Yeah. James Bond has a giant government organization behind him. Um, born, I can't remember. Tom Cruise, that one You is, I agree with that one. It is equal. James Bond, I feel like is a little bit more, he's got massive money behind him. Um, BI honestly don't remember at all. How did we not know that?$50 million. Was being used to do Teletubbies programming in Russia. Until recently, people didn't know that there's a lot of money out there that is just kind of like out there. You're gonna tell me there's not a lot of money that we just don't know where it is. I don't, I, I think I, I don't think. Yeah, there's just a lot of money that slips and cracks. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, military spending. I'm sure there's a ton of military spending that we just don't really have accounted for. Like I don't, I don't know. I think that's actually feasible. The Queen knows about it. I'm pretty sure with James Bond, the queen knows about this, I believe so. Like the government knows that there's money behind it. Yeah. Yeah. There's a lot of military spending. We know that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. I found there are just some aspects of it I didn't really like. Is is it a terrible movie? No. And I think I said it, don't think it was a terrible movie. The ending where he just gets knocked out and it was all planned I thought was ridiculous and stupid. Um, the relationship with the one girl that has the birds, I thought all of that was kind of, I don't think it was that good to be completely honest. Um. Those were my two big negatives that I can think of. Mostly the fact that the ending is just dumb. Oh, I thought that was so corny and stupid. You planned that all out, that you, you risked him kidnapping you instead of just shooting you in the head when you know that he is after you, which I think he would just shoot you in the head. It was just dumb. But I will give, the main actor did a good job of being a nerdy guy. Like he, he did that great. Fantastically really well done. Um, and some of the situations were, were fun, but when you have an ending, that was incredibly unsatisfying for me. It takes down the movie a lot. And then you have some other things where I'm like, you have to suspend your disbelief. And some of those are bigger than others, in my opinion. It leads for kind of just a eh movie that I didn't think was that great. I did too. I, I think a lot of my problems would've been solved if they would've had some way for him to get the finances and they did all these other things where he is supposed to be this really, really smart guy and he is able to do anything with a computer and hack anything, but they don't show any way of him getting money. I would've been cool if he like stole money and figure out and to hack into something and still money, but he has. But he has, he would have zero money. They would cut off his money supply completely, and some explanation of some kind would've been great. The one that I can think of that's the most, like this to me is actually Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol.'cause he gets cut off from the government and still has, I mean, he's got a tech stockpile is kind of how they, they make it sound, but they have so much stuff and I don't know how they would have that much stuff. It's kind of ridiculous. That's the biggest one that I can think of. But this one, I think it would've been easy to just show him hacking into an offshore account or something just once, and that would've solved a major, major, major problem for me. Okay. Probably yes. Yeah, I thought it was dumb. He's off on a dock. Like you can knock the guy out. You can kill him. Just literally strangle him, ground him like they would just kill him really quick. They would Mob murder this guy so easy. Mob murder him. Okay. Is the smart watch thing. He's got ridiculous almost superpowers. Somebody was paying attention. Yeah. Um, cool. My favorite. My favorite part of this movie is where he is in the, he goes to the bathroom and he is caught, and he times it perfectly so he can run outside. I thought that scene was fantastic, easily my favorite scene in the, in the movie Super Epic, felt very much like one of these movies. Done really, really well. I, I love that scene. Good. What did you give it? Okay. Okay. Even the the one, no one likes the Jeremy Rener one, isn't he one of them? Okay. Okay. Okay. Cool Universe, but you actually think it's a good movie. Okay, cool. I've never seen it. Cool. Cool. Okay. Sweet. Stay of the jackal every time. Yeah. Fair enough. Fair enough. Let's go to my first topic. Um, super sales on superheroes. It's a lit RP G book. I like lit RPGs. Uh, this one is, um, it's a mixed book. I like the premise and the idea. Basically, this guy has the power to change people's character sheets and he is the only one that can do it. And so. He can spend points to change people's character sheets and at the very beginning, he changed people's character sheets and he can change materials. At the very beginning, he thinks he's buying a box of lead, that he can change them to gold bars so he can sell and make a lot of money, but he finds out that he actually bought a, the, in this universe it's modern day. Villains have taken over the city. You have villains and you have heroes fighting all the time. Villains have taken over and they've enslaved a lots, a lot of the heroes that were around and the main character buys a box thinking has lead, and it's actually one of these heroes that ends up being a slave. And when he buys this hero, he figured he, he realizes he has more points to spend so he can spend. More of these points and adjust the character sheet of this hero. The hero is catatonic, barely able to move, but he can spend points and the hero goes up. So he buys more and more of these heroes. He treats them really well. He is not treating them like slaves or anything. He's literally just doing it for the points and he creates this empire. I think that's a cool idea. I think the way that they do the lit RPG system is really interesting in this particular book series. The writing, the writing doesn't match how good of an idea the idea is. Um, and he's trying to build up this empire and it's very much like a mob type series where you have the main mob and he's this young underdog that's trying to overthrow with this power that he has to be able to evolve people, um, and be a good leader and try to grow something special. The writing is kind of weak. All of the female characters and all of the heroes kind of just feel like the same character. You have the trope of lit RPGs that I don't like where all of the girls in the, in the book are for some reason in love with your main character and we have no idea why. And these characters really aren't even worth that worth being invested in.'cause all they are is kind of hot. And that's about it. They have cool powers. The powers are really awesome. There's a a psychic type person that's done better than most books and most shows that I've ever seen. She's a, she. Her powers are really cool. There is a person who can duplicate themselves. The way that they do limitations on those powers is super cool. Um, all of the powers have good balancing aspects to them, and they're written really well. They're thought out really well. But it becomes a lot less in investing when your main character is just the main character. And that's about what I can say about him. And because he's the main character, all of these women are in love with him and they're hot y yay. I guess that that's about all that you really get. And that's not, that's not good. Um. With Primal Hunter, you get some of these side characters that are really interesting and the main character is someone that you can root for. In this one, you're interested in the powers, you're interested in the world, but there's not that much more to it. Why? Why are these guys in love with them? Why is there no romance really at all? It's just obsession, and it feels weird, and it feels creepy. If they would've developed the relationship aspect of this book better. I would, I would highly recommend it to people because it is genuinely super interesting, but where the characters are so one dimensional it, it's hard to recommend. And where you have this really corny aspect of like, I love you. I love you. Why? Unless you're really into male fantasy, Mel, like the male gaze fantasy of just having hot women like you for whatever reason. It's not gonna be that satisfying to you and it's kind of gonna leave you hollow. The premise is interesting enough. I'm gonna try see a book too, um, but it's not one that I can recommend where I can recommend Primal Hunter to anybody who's into anime pretty much really easily. I can recommend Dungeon Crawler, crawler to anybody, period. I can recommend New Air Online because. The relationships are really satisfying in that book, and the way that they progress is really satisfying. If you're not a huge lit RPG fan, you probably will not like this book. Yeah. This is one where it would depend on what mood I'm in. Kind of with anime, there's times where. I will be watching anime and I will love anime. And then all of a sudden, anime is the stupidest thing I have ever watched, and I don't wanna watch any more of it. This could be a solid seven for me, or this could be like a three or a four depending on the mood that I'm in.'cause there's times where this book would drive me nuts because the premise is super interesting to me. Like the idea of. This guy who can change Character Street as sheets. The way that they implement that is really good. The way that he can change materials is really interesting. Um, and they did enough development of the powers and in the world that they were in to keep me invested into a future book. And I, I kind of hope he to tones down the cringe aspect of it. Because it just, it takes away from the book. There's another lit RPG called everybody Likes Large Chess. The main character is a mimic and it's hilarious. The book is super funny, but it has the same problem where everybody is in love with this main character for some freaking reason, and it takes away from the book in that one too. I quit that book because that was so cringey, even though it is hilarious. Um. This one has a lot of interesting aspects and if you can tone that down, I'd be much more into the series as a whole. Yeah, me too. I usually give second books a try as long as I kind of like the first book and I, I enjoy. I enjoyed my read of this book for the most part. I enjoyed my read of this book. Half, two thirds right now. I'm about a quarter of the way through it. Yeah, but we'll, we'll see. We'll see. I hope it's better. Anyway, let's go to your. Superhero feat that makes me feel small and insignificant'cause I work so hard. You're so much better than me. Go ahead. Yeah. Hey. I probably wouldn't have bought it if it was just, just for me to be completely honest. It was the fact that I could get a two for one that made me buy it. I mean, if I just had to buy the D-L-C-I-I probably would've waited anyway. Go ahead. Go ahead. Go ahead. Yeah. Freaking ridiculous. Wow. Okay. Okay. Wow. Is it. Is it so good that you could go a new game plus and just Absolutely. Wreck. Okay. Okay. Like op. Okay. Nope. It's just ridiculous. Okay. Okay. Okay. And that's it. Do you think soloing it? It's harder. No. Okay. Okay. Mm-hmm. Oh, really? Okay. Okay. They're too strong. Strong. Okay. Okay. Just wreck'em. Instead of just go, go, go, go, go. Oh, when I was trying to dodge that or trying to parry that one? Nah, I just got wrecked when I started rolling that I beat it like twice. Are. Wow. Wow. Okay. The crocodile just, okay. Wow. What were the other ones that were really hard for you? Do you remember? Cool. I think. If you didn't, you called for help. Oh. Oh, we didn't. I see, I see, I see. I would have singled, uh, the puppeteer of death, but I got unlucky, but it, she just happened to catch me at the wrong time and then did her big, massive hit. I timed it just barely wrong. Otherwise, that one was a really, really easy fight. Um, yeah, same time. So, DLC, what do you, what do you rate it? So does this raise your ranking of the game? No. Okay, cool. So you do think the claws are better than two handed or two eyed dragon or whatever it's called? Oh, you think so? Okay. Do you want to? It doesn't matter. Wow. Yeah. And boom. Yeah. Mm, written in anything. Wow. Where's it at? Okay. That's really cool. That is really cool. I am really excited to finish it and to catch up with you. But so far it's been a, it's been a lot of fun and they've done a, they done a really good job with all aspects of it. The music's really good. The, uh, story's been really good. The snow and having the imprint stay and erase when you die, I thought was really cool. I just liked it. It was a small little detail. Um, the African area, I know you didn't like the gator, but I liked, I just, the design was really cool and the, the coins at the carnival and how each coin was a different challenge and they were good challenges, worthwhile rewards. I, I love, I just thought it was cool. The, I actually think the, the, um, layout design of each one of these maps is improved over the base game. Okay. I feel like it's pretty comparable and there's different a aspects where you can go all over the base. Yeah. There's a lot of shortcuts and like, there's that scene where you're in the factory and there's ice all over the place and you have to go unlock the, the, uh, system to be able to have the ice go away, and then you can travel all over the place. It, it's really cool. I thought it was really well done. Okay. That's where I'm at right now. From then on. Yeah. Let's just go. Cool. Sweet. Well, with that, let's go to our last topic. We're gonna do the last two episodes of Dungeons and Daddies. I know you haven't been quite as thrilled about this season. What did you think about these last two? Why did they start calling it Russia? I knew that, and that actually kind of annoyed me too. But why did they choose Russia of, do you know why they chose that name? Huh? Okay. It's so stupid. Yeah, I kind of liked the whole drinking aspect of that episode, sort of where they poisoned him. That was the best part. But both of the games were incredibly lame. The one, you're right, you don't get to watch it. And the other one, you just roll a dice and they have so many dice. It's like, oh, I wonder who's gonna win? And that was literally the game, probably the one with the most dice. And when the game was over, I literally that that was it. That, that's the whole arc. That that's it. Oh, okay. I guess that, oh, okay. Yeah. I, I didn't like it really at all. Um. Other than the little drinking part, which was pretty good. But they could have, they could have even been more creative with some of the negatives that could have been really funny. And I feel like they, they dropped the ball a little bit on that, to be honest. Yeah. Who doesn't know what a gutter ball is, even in the fifties, like, come on. Yeah, I didn't like that episode either. The McDonald's one I thought was absolutely hilarious, and they're just having to buy more and more burgers. I just, I dunno, very, very funny. Um, it was great. I. And I could picture it in my head, just the manager being like, what the, what the hell? I could just, I could just see it in my head. It was, it was well done. Yeah. Just know that they won the bullying match. Yay. Yep, that's true. That's true. So why do you think this season isn't quite as good? I had the theory that the first season they didn't really know what they were doing as far as recording, so it became a, it felt a little bit more authentic and I don't think they were quite as good of friends then either. So they didn't. In this season. Sometimes I feel like they're, they're so close and so friendly that they just start talking and they don't ever push forward. So you have episodes where it feels like half the episode is them just goofing off and you're not actually getting any story. What do you think? Okay. What do you mean? Okay. That would be funny. Yeah. It's just k kafu. Okay, we're. Beth in the first one wasn't just herself and in this one kind of feels like she's just playing a robot version of her. Yeah. It's absolutely hilarious. Yeah. Okay. And they do things that are wildly out of the, yeah. Where they have opportunities to do stuff like that. Like they could have her press a freckle every single episode and just have some randomness in there, or there's other options. Okay. Much better season one. Do you still enjoy being a Patreon subscriber, even when it's not quite the same level of material? Okay. Yep. So it just wasn't very good. Yay. I would agree. Yeah, that one, the Labyrinth and the Yeti episodes are probably my favorite of this season. Yeah. Anyway, guys, that is gonna be our show. We appreciate you watching. If you've watched Dungeons and Daddies, uh, or listened to Dungeons and Daddies season one, two, and three. I would be interested in how you rate them, what you think if you haven't watched them. Season one genuinely is fantastic. I can recommend it to people who aren't into DD and I still think they would have a great time with it. Um, are you into Eliza P Tell me, are you better than me too? And if you already beat it also, I would piss me off freaking people. Gosh dang. I'm getting my ass kicked. Um, yeah. For this boss, beat the crap outta me. Um, then if you're into lit RPGs, do you have a recommendation for me, something I haven't heard of? I'm always looking for something new and there are thousands of these books getting written all the time. It's just getting bigger and bigger and there, I'm sure there's good stuff I just haven't read yet. Appreciate you guys watching. Like subscribe, all the good stuff. See ya out.
