Hey everybody. This is onscreen offscreen show where we like to talk about the media we took throughout the week and how it impacts our lives. Uh, this week we've got some special episodes coming to you today. Uh, first off, we're gonna be doing our top 10 most underrated things in life shows, whatever, um, all inclusive. Um, I'm gonna go ahead and get started with my Honorable mentions, things that did not quite make this list. I have two. The first one is the movie Captain. Fantastic. Uh, it's Stars Aragorn, and it's Fanta. It's, it's a good movie. And, uh, my next one is just RTS games as a genre. Um, they've kind of like died off. They were really popular in the nineties and they're not really popular anymore, but they should be. Uh, Conlin said he's got some honorable mentions too, Conlin.

Okay. My first one, the Breakfast Burger by Carls Jr. Because it's fantastic and no one talks about it and it's freaking incredible.

okay. Okay. Nice, nice. Uh, dead like me. I act, I really debated putting this on the list and maybe I should have. it's a TV show about a girl who dies. Um, a satellite falls from space, and she literally gets killed by the toilet of the satellite that falls from space. uh, she becomes a grim reaper who's killing people in like the most bizarre ways. And so it's this comedy, this dark comedy that also says a lot about how important life is and how we should live. So you have like a comedy mixed with, with this aspect of we should live, we should keep going. And this show did not get nearly enough love, like not even close. I, I love it. I highly recommend to everybody. Um, a day after tomorrow is very lowly rated on IMDB and I think it just deserves better. I think it's a better movie than that. Hitch is rated a 6.6 on IMDB, and there's no way in the world that that should be a 6.6 that should be rated way higher, which is great. Super underrated. And then the last one, besides Josh, I've never heard anyone talk about devil as a part-timer, and that should absolutely be on everyone's radar. Radar I kind of messed some of my stuff is like unknown versus underrated, and I think devil is a part-timer, is majorly unknown and should be enjoyed more.

With that being said, we're gonna get started with our number tens. Lauren, what is your number? 10 most underrated.

Okay. So these are in no particular order except for this last one is, is the 10, but the rest aren't really ranked. Uh, my number 10, I put hazmat suits. I think everybody should have one, just because this is mostly due to actually where I work, uh, because they're not giving us all of, um, like they're telling us what our PPE is our like. The equipment you're supposed to wear while you go paint. And then when we don't have enough, but they wanna push apart, they're like, it's fine. Just ignore all those hazard and cancer signs. And so I was like, no, I want a hazmat suit. I wanna be protected from cancer because I'm pretty sure I've done all of the jobs that you could get cancer from other than like going to nuclear power plant or something. But that's radioactive. But anyway, I digress. Everybody should have a hazmat suit so they can feel safe in a little environment when they feel like everything is gross. Everybody needs a bubble. So there you go.

I re-watched it this week. I think it is massively underrated. The kid does a great job. It's very charming. Um, it has a very like, uh, what is that show called? Uh, home Alone. It has a home alone kind of vibe and it's just, it's really good.

Okay. All right. My number 10 most underrated thing is hitting the perfect shot in golf. Like it is just amazing how great it feels when you hit the sweet spot when you're playing golf, and I think it's super underrated.

John Carter of Mars, um, the book and the movies in the movie I think are both extremely underrated. It was created by the same person that created Tarzan, and Tarzan is way better known than this John Carter of Mars. The, the. Trailer was honestly terrible. But the movie, in my opinion, is super, super underrated. It's got a 6.6 on IMDB. I think it's much better than that. And the books, the problem with the books is before he wrote the last one, he died. So there's a giant cliffhanger in that very like last two part kind of Hunger Games, part one and two kind of a book. Other than that, they're all fantastic and people should read them more.

And so basically I'm just making and decorating things. So it's just like a free little decoration simulator, I guess, for me. But

And so the social worker came and caught my kid and I come running out of the room like crying and screaming. I'm like, they took my baby. And my family will remind me every once in a while about how the social worker took my Sims baby. And I was like, what, five or something playing this game. Well, so distraught. Anyway,

Um, I have the Glass Cannon Podcast. I have asked so many people to listen to them, and, uh, nobody has, uh, I will say specifically, um, because they have a lot of, um, like their main podcast is the Glass Cannon, but then they have a lot of, they do, role playing games, and so they have like a lot of different podcasts within that. And I would say that everybody needs to listen to get in the trunk. Um, oh gosh, I can't even remember what my favorite one is, but it's behind a paywall. So, um, and then their, their main. Their main podcast. It's like 300 episodes long, I think is really good. And nobody has ever heard of them. And everybody, I wear their hat all the time. I have like literally me on my bottle and uh, yeah, everybody always asks me what my hat is and I tell'em, they're like, never heard of it. And I was like, guys need to. But I, I kind of feel bad though'cause I haven't been listening to a lot of their stuff recently.'cause I think that they kind of went in a different direction, but they're old stuff I really like. Um, and I think everybody should listen to it. So I will say there are a little crash though, so maybe not everybody.

I love the creatures in it. I love all the, I like all the actresses in it. I like both cuts of the movie. I think this movie is freaking brilliant and it is not loved nearly enough. Have you? Like we, well, Conlan doesn't have a Nintendo Switch, but he's played Nintendo Switch games. He's played we games like these games make all of our favorite of all time games, and they're all locked at 30 FBS and people just hate on it. And I was like, no, 30 is really not that bad. My number three is about time. Uh, this is May, this is maybe my favorite romance movie of all time. no one talks about it. And it also might be my favorite time travel movie ever. And nobody talks about it. And, uh, it's got plenty of ratings on IMDB. Like, apparently people have watched this movie. It's rated pretty well there. But the people that I know. Do not know this movie. I think it's a crying shame. Um, Rachel McAdams is in this movie and just a spoiler, people who've watched this before on My Overrated Things is absolutely the trash that is the Notebook. And I needed a dichotomy between that absolutely asinine movie and this one.'cause this one is brilliant in my opinion. The main guy is able to travel back in time. Um, and so he decides that he's gonna date this girl and he just keeps trying it over and over again. He keeps screwing up. He's kind of a, he's got a kind of a clumsy guy, but he makes it work and he makes it happen. you have a kid, if you go back in time while you're, unless you act exactly the same, the kid won't turn out the same. So basically when you have a kid that puts a stop mark on when you can go back in time, and I love that idea. He does it one time without realizing it, and the kid that he had is basically lost to. he loses that child he goes back in time. His sister is going through some major abuse issues with her boyfriend and he wants to go back in time to be able to help his sister, but if he goes back in time, he loses his child. So there's a cost to going back in time that feels very real and feels very human. The acting is extremely good. It is one of things on screen that has ever made me cry, and it it, I think it's beautiful. It makes me want to be a better person when I talk about things. That we are going to try to find better people to try to be a better person. This is one of those movies that I will turn to because it makes me think about making today precious, making today matter, complimenting Josh and not necessarily calling him a piece of shit, like telling him

And so I thought it was such a spectacular, like, it's like, wow, this is true storytelling. Everybody didn't know Shakespeare did at first, but I know I really like it. Uh. it sounds really cheesy, but I want people to watch it so that I can talk to'em about it. So that's really good.

Um, if I, if we made a list of movies that I want a sequel of, this might be on my, this might be my top pick. I love this movie. If I had my top 10 vampire movies and werewolf movies. I like vampires and I like werewolves. This would probably get on both of those lists. I, I think it is a fun time. I think, uh, Hugh Jackman does a great job in this. I, I, I like the whole cast. I think the CGI still looks actually pretty good for how old this movie is. I like the inclusion of all the different monsters. It's one where you have so many monsters, but somehow it works. Most of the time when they stuff a movie with so much stuff, it just becomes bloated. This doesn't feel bloated to me. I've watched it over and over and over again. I love this movie and I think it is massively, massively underrated.

The, uh, they, they did a good job of at, of having the camp of vampires and having the series of vampires all put in one movie, the werewolf storyline with this family. And they're trying to hunt down the werewolves and they have this like oath that they won't go into basically heaven before the werewolves are taken out or before the vampires are taken out and they're, the werewolf flood is through, is inside of the family. Very, very cool. Werewolves being required to be able to take down the vampires, I thought was really cool. There's just a lot of great ideas that for me, completely meshed in this movie, and I, I genuinely just love it.

uh, the Dark Crystal Movie and the series on Netflix. Um, I like, I think it's phenomenal, like the sets and things for these puppets,'cause they're puppets and in the series I was watching like a whole bunch of stuff about how they wanted to make it a series. Um, and I'm really glad that they stuck with the puppetry, um, because that's part of what I think makes a dark crystal great. And also it's the first movie that was like live action that didn't have any humans in it. it was just all puppetry and, um, I think it's like, it's a solid storyline. You have solid characters, especially in a series you have like, oh, who's our favorite? Eddie the Eagle who he, yeah, he, he voice acts in this series. It's really well done. And they, they did add in a little bit of animation into the series just to help with the facial expressions of the puppets, but they do it so tactfully that I didn't even notice that they were doing that to help with the expressions, but they just did that to help with a little bit of the uncanny valley that some people get with like the movie. but yeah, I think it's, I love the music of the series. Um. I really like the world and the sets. I just think they're really cool. Um, and then I love, is it Olga? Her little like spinning planet thing, like that was a real thing that they made and it's just, it's so cool. I, I wish, I wish I knew where the sets were. I wish they were still up and I could just like go look at them. Oh, that would be a really cool day for me if I could go visit those sets.

This is one that would've gotten onto my honorable mentions, um, the, the, the show in particular.'cause I think the puppetry in the show is absolutely amazing how that, it looks, it looks so good. The puppets are so realistic, like it's, it's super impressive. My one problem with the show and the TV show is that the TV show looks so much better than the movie that when you go back to the movie, it's almost hard to watch because it genuinely looks like crap compared to the TV show that you just watched. Um, it's like. You watch the original Star Wars movies and you're like, oh, you can tell that this is old, right? And then you watch the new ones and you're like, oh, this does definitely look better. For sure. This, this is more visually appealing. When you look at that one, you're like, wow, this thing looks like dog shit, and this thing looks absolutely insane.
