Alien

Josh Dietrich
lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

everybody. It's onscreen offscreen with Josh Conlin and myself. We talk about stuff, um, that we've viewed throughout the week and how our lives affect what we watch and what we watch affects our lives. Um, I, I'm, I curious, Conlin, is this the first time you have watched Corpse Bread?

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Yes it is.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Okay, then I wanna start with that.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

This movie is brilliant. so, so I was shocked at how good this movie is. Um, I like the music. I think the the world that's created is, just so fascinating. You. believe the world that you're involved in. This idea of this guy just getting way over his head while was walking through a graveyard, just practicing his speech and then having all this happen, I find hilarious. The entire plot is just funny because I was practicing my engagement, I did this. walked outside and I literally was saying it out loud and it just made me laugh. I was like, that is so brilliant, so simply brilliant. Um, it's got some little creepy factors to it. I love the, the, the Corpse's bride character and her, her just wanting to, uh, find that love and find that connection. Um, I, I thought was really sweet. Weirdly enough, in such a creepy movie, there was a lot of sweetness. Um, have the, the main character and he. Connects more and more with the living as he's going through this journey through death. I think a lot of people go through an experience where they kind of fall down to the ground. You have your, your moment where you're at your bare bottom, and that's when you clinging to life even harder. And this is like an allegory to me of like hitting rock bottom. Um, which I, I think is really cool. Like I said earlier, the music is good. The sound design is fantastic. The world is so believable. The colors, they pop. I, I, this is my kind of fun Halloween movie. I've seen Coralline, I've seen one other of these kind of movies and I've seen Nightmare on Christmas, uh, before Christmas. This is way better than both of those, in my opinion. I like this one significantly more. I will continue to watch this. This is a movie that I would watch. Basically every Halloween. I can't think of a reason why I wouldn't. uh, uh, maybe my only thing that I don't like about this movie is that the one guy ends up being the, the, the suitor that left her to die. was like, eh, that kind of works. But I'd rather he just be kind of a normal dude that is just a jackass versus he happens to be the guy. That's it. Other than that, I really, really like this movie. Also, probably a 9.5, like, I really like this movie. I have very few problems with it. 9.3, I'm gonna give him 9.3.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I think it's interesting because, um. That you said that you wished it was just a normal guy because like a huge part of that is because he was trying to marry her for the money and that's what he did with Emily and then all of her money and then was like coming back to find the next new rich chick in town. Yeah. And so like, it made sense to me. I wasn't mad about that.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

I actually thought it was a really good twist

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Hmm.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

cause there was just enough information, but not so much that you saw it coming.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I did see it coming. I was like, this is what most movies would do, is they'd make it that guy and I hope they don't make it that guy.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

well'cause like Emily doesn't get a lot in this movie, but at least she got that like in the end she gotta like up.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

There's some character development there.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Yeah. because I mean, it's, it's so good when like he goes to like stab Victor and he stabs Emily instead, and she like takes it out and like points it at him. I'm like, oh, that's so good.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

It is. Good.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Uh, so yeah, I'm not mad at that. In fact, I love, I'm with Josh. I love that part.'cause then you do get the confrontation. She does get some closure, um, at the end because like if she didn't get any sort of closure, I would get so mad at that ending. Um, yeah, I, yeah, I think she is such a great character because like you said, like

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

good.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

the whole time she is like, um, just wants somebody to love and like at the end when she is like, she sees Victoria and she like stops the wedding and she is like. Um, she's like, this is all I've ever wanted and I've stolen it from somebody else. And so she like backs it down and I'm like,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

heartbreaking.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

is so sad and so good. And like when she like erupts into all of those butterflies that started off the movie and then it ends off Oh,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

It's

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Oh yeah. That's not how my freaking wedding goes. I don't want it.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

There's not

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

up.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

butterflies.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I don't erupt into butterflies. Why? Why even, oh yeah. I love the corpse bread. It is. I, I'm pretty sure I put that on my top 10, right? It has to be. Um,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

there or not. I don't blame you if it is like it is that good of a movie.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

yeah. It's very quotable. It's very, yeah. I love it.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Yeah, the voice work is really good. Like e, even among animated movies, I know this is Claymation, but really good.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Oh yeah, you have like Johnny Depp is Victor. You have, uh, Helen Bowman Carter. I probably her name, uh, as Emily. I can't remember who Victoria is. you have, um, oh, who plays, uh, Soman. Um, he was the priest. Um, yeah. You have a lot of,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

That's some

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

uh, Yeah, it's really good. Anybody who hasn't watched Corpse Bread, please do it.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

it.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I don't care if it's Halloween or not. Go watch it.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I love when the corpse bride is talking all catty and she's like, she's just alive in stuff. It's like not even a big deal.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

She's like, like, what does she have that you don't up pulse.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

a pulse.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

So good.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

It was So good. This, and this movie's full of little witty pieces that were really good. witty lines. I, this is, is one of my favorite movies that you guys have recommended that I haven't seen yet. I really, really liked this movie.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Oh, I love that. Um, okay. Josh, onto you, I am curious as to know what CC is.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

It is short for completion is Chronicles. Um, I've already led on to, I started this series. This is books three, well, two and a half. Three and four. Um. The first one is Rexi. It's the halfway between two and three book. It focuses on a side character named Jackson, who I really wasn't sure about. Um, to give you a little bit of background, Lauren, uh, he's a former chiropractor who is, uh, obsessed with perfecting his craft. So he walks around talking about stretching people and fixing their back. And not in like a normal way. It's like picture the creepy kid on the block, uh, who you're not sure if they're a serial killer or not. That's how he approaches everything. Um. So in the first book that he's introduced, it's kind of like, I don't know if he's gonna be the yellow kid from, uh, demon Slayer. He's probably just gonna be that guy that I just genuinely like Wish wasn't in the book. And this whole book focuses on him going on a side quest to level up and become a better chiropractor. Um, and he's just like not completely socially there. So he's given a bad charisma score. And because of that, when he talks people here gibberish, not necessarily what he's saying. Um, and he comes across this girl who's trying to kill him to steal his loot, but then he promises her a spot in their guild. And their guild is a top guild, um, because of our normal, main character. And so they decide to go on this adventure together. Um. So far, this is my favorite book in the series. Um, I absolutely love Jackson in this. They make him very human. They make him a little bit relatable. His relationship with the girl is fantastic because it always cuts to her point of view and she's like, should I just kill him or should I put up with this any longer? Or, okay, I'll go with him, but then I'll steal his loot and then kill him. And like, she never really fully believes him with anything. She's always very skeptical. And by the end of this book, she comes across these o this other people with, um, and Jackson is talking to him and they're getting really freaked out and scared.'cause they're like, what is he gonna do to me? This is. horrifying. And she's just like, oh yeah, you get used to it. And then in the next book, they actually start talking about it. And she, he's like, she gets asked how. Uh, Jackson survived this whole ordeal, and she's just like, well, there were a few times it came close and he was like, what? You are gonna kill me? Um. it's very, very funny. And the big power up he gets is he gets the ability to turn his hands into T-Rex Sands and he just falls in love with disabilities. He's like, I, no, I got re hands, bro. And just has a great time with it. Um, it very much starts to give the vibes of like an Old man who somehow gets a youth body again and is just like, I get to play with toys again. And it's so charming and cute. I absolutely love it. So yeah, for this one, Rexi, I'm giving an 8.6 out of 10. It is my favorite of the series so far.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

It is just funny when you're mentioning like the chiropractor bit. Um, I remember I told somebody, I was like, I really need a chiropractor. And he's like, I know a guy except he's really old and you have to go down to his basement. And I'm like, no, thank you.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Very relatable to this character.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

For sure

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Yeah.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

that is Jackson to a t.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Okay. right. Let's skip back to you, Conlin. You have, uh, th Okay, two more. Right,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Yeah. Um, I have been blessed with some very good horror movies. The exorcism of Emily Rose is great. It's just a great movie. So in the 1970s, there was a girl, I can't remember her name Right, now. One second.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Annalise.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Yeah, I think that's what her name was. Yes. Annalise. And it's based on a true story. So Annalise is, the church thinks that she is possessed, the courts think that she is just schizophrenic. And so they actually have a real court case after she dies because they. They accuse the pope, the Pope, uh, not the pope, the head of the church, the head of the Catholic church in the area of causing Emily's death because they stopped psychological treatment trying to cure her of an exorcism. And in the movie you are dealing with more of a haunted thing, like you're watching Emily go through an exorcism, but you're bouncing back to this court case. And the court case is one side trying to prove that the church was wrong in what they were doing they, she should have got psychiatric help and the church trying to say, no, is absolutely possible that she was possessed. It's not that this happened. And if it's not impossible, the church is not held accountable for. For her murder. And so you have this really interesting dichotomy between a traditional horn movie where you're watching Emily Rose go through an exorcism and a courtroom drama. And the courtroom drama. There. There's, there's very few movies that I think are good courtroom dramas. They're not very common. This would make it on my list of one of the better courtroom dramas, and it's a horror movie. That's crazy. And then the, the horror aspect of it, the exorcism aspect of it, is not as horrifying as some other possession movies. not quite as good, but it is good, like it's a solid, a solid, um, of the genre. So you have these two, two genres that are not, you would never think they would blend together really well based on a true story. And they're both done well in my opinion, because they're done together so well. It makes the movie more interesting and makes me wanna watch it more. It makes me more invested. And, uh, it left me with like an eight, 8.2, just'cause it was so interesting. there's another movie called Requiem. It's a German film. You have to read it, uh, do the subtitles, but it's more of a view of this, of this scenario. So you're not dealing with as much of the exorcism aspects. You're dealing with the court case and you're dealing with the psychological profiling of what is going on. And I'm very, very interested in that movie. I just haven't watched it yet. E Rose is a, if you like, horror movies, it is just something I would recommend watching. It's just good. It's not so horrifying and gross that you're not gonna have a good time with it. It's just good.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Yeah, it's interesting'cause I've listened to a lot of podcasts about Annaly Mitchell or Yeah. Uh, which is what, uh, based on. Right.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Yeah.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Um, that's, yeah, that's very interesting. Like you say, the court case going back and forth in between those two. Um,'cause is that a, don't know that I've ever heard about, like the court case happening Annalise. Is that,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Yeah. It's a, it's a real thing.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

huh?

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

there's people who don't like the court case because they felt like it was putting. It, it was getting the church off like they do genuinely feel like it was the church's fault. I think one of the interesting aspects of the movie is what do you think were, is the church more held accountable? Should they be more held accountable, or is it that maybe she was possessed? Like what's your religious take on things? There's a lot of different nuances to the movie because where are, where do you fall? Like where, where are you? It's, it's, it's interesting.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Yeah, it's, it's interesting'cause I know that there's another case that happened like this, but it was like somewhere in Korea, I believe. And it was like the family believed that, um, like they needed to eat their own like feces and stuff to like. Flush out the demons, and so they ended up dying and things like that. So I can see where people are worried, um, mental health isn't being checked because of that. So that is an interesting, um, an interesting thing, I, I do say I don't like horror, watching horror, but I do think that it is an interesting medium to explore, um, how people explore things. Um, I don't like watching horror. I do understand how people can get, uh, or like how these messages are spread, um, which is, I think good and if that works for you, I think that's nice to have a little, like you think about things. Right. yeah, very interesting because like the story of it me, but I just, oh, yeah. Visuals, I don't.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

The possession. one part that's pretty horrifying, but it's. As far as possession movies, it's not the scariest. I think you probably could watch it, but it does have possession, so you are gonna have that problem. Maybe you have like a Bible next to you after you could read the passages. I don't know.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I need a priest with me giving me an exorcism while I,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

while you're watching the movie the entire time, that like Blessed Data,

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

because this is a a thousand percent, you will be just getting call back to another episode.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

this movie is just, it's just so interesting. I would recommend it to both of you. It there's,

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Yeah.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

never seen anything like this movie, ever.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

like, I won't watch it. But people who like horror I think should watch it. I think it's interesting. Um, all right. And then Josh are yours, all separate topics with

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

They're separate books. We can do it in one if you want.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I was gonna just keep ping ponging back you two,

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Okay.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

but I didn't know if you had already like addressed those ones yet.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

No.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I was like, okay, cool.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

the next book in the series is called Raise. It's the next whole book. So we jump back to our main character, Joe, uh, Joe takes on the girl that, um. Jackson brings back and she is basically good at everything Joe sucks at. So, uh, she like completes the team and makes it all kind of come together and start working. Uh, Joe is a ritualist, so he's starting to actually figure out how that kind of stuff starts coming together. Um, the series takes a big left turn. Um, I don't know what to think about it. I already let Conlin in on this a little bit. Um, basically President Elon Musk says, uh, get into this game, ditch your body, or you're all gonna die. And then vanishes. And then aliens or monsters start coming out of the ocean. And so the world gets flooded with all of these people who aren't necessarily into video games. Um. And I'm not really sure what to think about that.'cause that's literally all I know about it at this point. Um, I, I've let Kala know, I'm starting to get concerned about a lot of buildup with zero payoff in this series. Uh,'cause originally in the very first book, uh, Joe is a vet, um, an army vet. He just comes back from war, has big PTSD, wakes up from a coma to find out he has no legs and is approached by this video game company who says, Hey, you can have legs again in this game. And the guy pitching it is one of his army buddies. And it leads up to the him agreeing and his buddy saying, Hey, I shouldn't tell you this, but there's a possibility that even though you're giving up your body, you may be able to exit the game again. And so I was really excited about how this whole dynamic about a company preying on a guy at his absolute most vulnerable'cause. Like he had just woken up from a, a coma and literally nothing has happened with that. He hasn't even said one time how grateful he is for legs. Like this is just his new life now and everything before doesn't really seem to matter. Um, and the only carryover effect that I've seen so far is the game is flooded with all of these new people and there aren't enough resources to go around for all of them. That's it. So it's not really going the direction I was hoping for. I am concerned that there's no payoff.'cause each individual book is great standalone content, but there isn't a whole lot of carryover. There isn't a whole lot of development over multiple books, between characters. So far. It's just kind of like, I really liked this book and I really liked this book, but right now there's no connection other than they're the same characters. Um, so this one did drop it down for me a little bit. I'm giving this book an 8.1 out of 10. Still fantastic. Still super interesting. I really like that they have to deal with this concept of a bunch of people who are not gamers coming in. One of them is Joe's mother, and Joe's mother starts dating an a non playable character who is the sheriff of this town. And he kind of has to deal with that. Like, it's very funny, it's very interesting dynamic. But uh. It's growing concerns in the series. is where I'm at with this one. So, uh, it did drop it just a little bit. It's still enjoyable. I would still recommend it, um, but not quite as high as the previous books. And the one that's rated the lowest, the one all about Jackson has been my favorite so far. Still.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

It's one of my favorite in the series two. I think it's actually super underrated. Fans of the series often skip it and I think it's a mistake.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Yeah, it's, it's the best one. It's the most fun, uh, and it gives the most character development that actually plays a part into the, the later stories. For example, Lauren, this is something you would love. He makes friends with the dog people.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Yeah,

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

The previous book was all about how they massacred the dog, dog people, but he becomes friends with the dog people and starts to learn to talk to them and like. Showing your teeth is a threat, so he has to like focus on not smiling as much, and they start to praise him as basically a God because he makes them be able to stand up straight because he is a chiropractor. It's so funny. It's so good. Yeah.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

That's funny.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Yeah.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I like that.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Oh,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

It's really good.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

that's good. very good

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Uh, it, yeah, when you said like, dog people, I just, it reminds me of, um, dungeon Carl or Carl, the dog lady. Uh, I remember her name. I loved her name. Oh, Del Gore.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Okay.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

yeah. Anyway,

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Mm-hmm.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

um, all right. Uh, I'm scared to see what you're gonna say. Conlan about Taylor Swift's new album. Are we going to get canceled by Swifty?

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

So, um, a while ago Josh watched of my favorite things was like, what is something that I could do for Lauren that would be cool? And I know she likes Taylor Swift. And so I was

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

To listen to.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

you know what? I'm gonna. to this entire new album. I'm actually gonna like pay attention. I'm really gonna listen To it. listen to. the music, everything. And Lauren, this album's really good.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I don't like this album. It's not for me. I do think it is.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

because I was actually impressed. Why don't it? makes me sad.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I'll tell you. I like, uh, Alite, the first three Alite, Elizabeth Taylor, and, um, it's her biggest hit off of that one. Why can't I think of what it's called?

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Felia.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Um, oh, Fado Ophelia. Yeah.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I love that song.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

yeah.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Think that song is great.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Yeah. So those are the three that like, I really like, I listen to the entire album maybe three times. Uh, I would usually skip wood, um, father figure, like I can see these songs are meant for some people and it's not for me, but I don't think that that makes it bad. Um, yeah, so the,

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

I disagree.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I think the first three I really like and are really good. Um, the rest of the album I don't think is, for me, I don't think it was meant for me, it was meant for somebody else. Um, and I don't think that that's a bad thing.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Dang.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

sorry I cut you off.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

It's all good. I'm just a little sad. I'm just a little sad because I finally, I was, well, I was like, oh, I like that. So I'm looking at him right now. Uh, I think fate of affiliate is legitimately just a great song.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Mm-hmm.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Elizabeth Taylor, I thought was really good eldest daughter. I was surprised at how much I liked that song. Wishlist. I really like, I really liked that song. And then, uh, honey, I liked Honey. Like I, I thought this was a surprisingly good album and it made me go and listen to the last two albums of hers again. I like this one better than both of those, especially the one before this I didn't like. I don't think that one's good. I don't like any of the songs.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Tortured poets department,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Yeah, I do not like that song album.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

and then you listen to, um, oh my gosh, why can't, it's my favorite.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Yeah, that one, it was good. The one before that, whatever it's called.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

There's evermore and then,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Let's

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

oh, midnights. Um,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

probably what it was. I can't

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

yeah, midnights. There's evermore. There's the one in between evermore midnights. That's my favorite.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I will see which one it was that I listened to. It was midnights, the one I listened to, and midnights was pretty good. I like this one better than that one.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Yeah. I really like, I like lover. I like 1989. I like folklore. really like folklore. Um, speak now are some of my favorites, and I like midnights. Okay.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Yeah, I, putting it pretty well. this one was easily better than both of those in my opinion. I'm sorry you didn't like it as much. Like that's just,

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I, I,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

was so excited for us to be on the same page and be like, yeah, Lord, I, loved it.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

nope,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Ah,

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

just.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

sad.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Like, I feel like some of these songs are very niche. and so it's like, oh yeah, like canceled or whatever. I'm like, I think they're like, if I don't listen to the lyrics, I think they're bops. Um, but like if I listen to the lyrics and stuff, I'm like, I'm not into like seeing who hates who. Um, really care. Uh, I think there was one song that I thought was funny, in actually romantic. Like once I started hearing the things behind what everybody thinks that actually romantic is about, I was like, oh, that ruined the song for me. Um, but if I just heard this song and there was no lore behind it, I would've been like, ah, I think this, this song is kind of funny and I like it. yeah, the. Ruin the friendship. Also had more lore stuff that I was like, I'm not a lore swifty, so I don't really understand the lyrics of this. Um, but yeah.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

favorite song on the album

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Um, what is my least favorite surprise?

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

is my least favorite.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Um, yeah, I think canceled is a bop but like, then when, once again, when people start like speculating, what's the lore behind it? I, it like ruins it for me. honey I think was nice, but yeah, I think the ones that I'll like listen on repeat are fate of Ophelia Elizabeth Taylor and Alite.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

That's fair.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

yeah, mean, like.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

watch the video, music video for Fate of Oph?

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I have actually not seen it all the way through. I've just seen bits and pieces. Um,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

crazy good.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I've seen things that like people, yeah, it looks really good. I want to actually watch it all the way through. Um,'cause yeah, the things that I have seen are really good.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I even watched the music videos for the whole dang thing. Oh

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Did you go to the theater? Just kidding.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I didn't know it was in the theater. Was it in the theater?

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Yeah, they, uh,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

wild.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

yeah, they had a theater showing, but they had it. what's pg? So like, and honestly clean versions. And if I listen to the clean version of this, I think I would like it a lot more. So like in wood, instead of like thighs, it says skies, um, and things like that. That I'm like, wish that was the actual version.'cause I actually like that a lot better.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

It's more lyrical.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Yeah, because I'm trying to think of what the other one was that they, she switched it and I was like, oh, that's actually quite lovely.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Lovely.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

yeah. All right.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Well,

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

uh, what

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

to say I was really looking forward to this because I knew ahead of time that Laura did like it and Conlin told me he is like, I'm so excited. I listened to Taylor Swift for Laura. It is gonna be great. And I was,

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

to listen to.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

see this collide.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I, was so excited. I, I'm a little, I'm a little sad, Lauren. I'm not gonna lie. I'm a little, I would, I've been excited about this for weeks.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Josh, you shoulda been like known what was my favorite album. And him listen to that,

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

But that's not as fun. I wasn't here to be helpful. I was here to increase the chaos. Yeah,

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

just swivel in his chair, slowly petting something.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

exactly.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

one is your favorite? I will listen to your favorite.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Um, folklore.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Booklo is your favorite. Okay. I'm listen

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Mm-hmm. Let me double check.'cause sometimes evermore I'm pretty sure it's folklore.'cause I kind of, I kind, that's why I would say I'm, I'm double checking. Yeah. It's

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Okay,

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Be prepared to be sad.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

nice. That's my favorite activity.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

That's what I always wanted. Alright.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Okay. It's loaded up. I will listen to it and then I'll be sad. I'll be like, I already listened to one, and she didn't like it.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

And then she made me even more.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

And then she was just like, you aren't sad enough. Listen to this. There's just a spot where you edited it somehow you figured out exactly which one I was gonna pick. And one of the songs is just like, Conlin, you suck. I kick you while you're on the floor.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

no, I had to get you into the mental space to appreciate this album.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Oh, Okay, tell though.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Okay, uh, Josh, let's go to your last book.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Okay, so this is, uh, book four or five in the series. I have already lost track. This is Klan's personal favorite from the series so far. It's called Ruthless. Um, it's my least favorite in the series so far. Um, it's still a really good book. It has the highest highs for sure. Um, he goes on the side quest and makes friends with a bear. And it's really cool. And the Bear's Voice was the first time in the series. I felt like the narrator was doing a fantastic job. Um, not that he's done bad jobs before, but he was just kind of like a narrator. But when he switches between his voice and Joe's voice, it's so good. Um, I, I absolutely love all the Dungeons and Fights in this book. Um, I love the setup of the battle at the end, but they just skip over the Battle of the End. Joe's like, oh, I went unconscious and woke up and it's already over.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Our favorite plot device.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

But I mean, the

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Once again, breeding Aragon. No, the last book, the last fight is literally like two minutes because Joe, they're losing and Joe's like, uh, the leader's like, Joe, we need you to level up. You can level up and say this. All right. And he is like. I don't know. I'll try it. And then it skips forward and it's like Joe has been unconscious for two days.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Yeah. But at the same time he, like, does go out in the group, the giant army that's there, and he bounces on people's heads and he gets into a fight and he uses the bear from earlier and there's the entire blood ritual thing, which is badass. It's not two minutes.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

It is two

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

two minutes. I,

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

It is literally two minutes. Um, he does do some stuff. He goes unconscious. The big fight happens. He wakes up to the aftermath. His protege sets up the ritual, he activates it. That's all he does. Um, so I, didn't love that. I would've loved to have seen the fight. I would've loved to actually see what built up to them. Sucking so bad and failing so much.'cause they're the top squad. They're the absolute elite of elite. They have the dungeon that nobody else has. Like I get that they're losing a bunch. The blood ritual is very cool. Um, what happens with that is very cool. And then again, the aftermath of that isn't very cool. They're like, and you're exiled to the next zone that you were trying to get to anyway. And there's no real price for this. And yep, the end

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

He is not ready to go to the next zone. He literally could get like, uh, what happens to all the people who are dying over and over again, where they're losing levels. This literally could happen going to the next.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

could,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

you, you

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

but.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

it's not going to because this is, uh, the kind of book that it is, but it could,

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Yeah. But you did, you know, as a reader, it's not going to, and they also only just touched on the fact that dying over and over is gonna affect people. It's not something that's been building up for six books now. It literally is like, oh, hey, because you killed 3 million people in 10 hours. Uh, we started to notice some side effects. By the way, you have to leave now. Okay. Um, I just wasn't a personal fan of that. He didn't even care. He, Joe's response was, I wanted to do that anyway. Okay, cool. Um,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Just didn't feel like much

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

so yeah. Uh, so the highs are really high in this book. Like I said, they're the highest highs so far. There's a lot of in between that I think is just like, I view the office.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Okay,

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

When it's funny, it's really funny. Everything in between is just like, why am I watching this crap? That happens a lot in this book where he's like, I got to do this thing So that I can get more powerful. Now I've got to do this thing. Now they want me to do this thing so I can build a magical wall. Hey Joe, can You. put flamethrowers on our wall? No. Well, hold on. Maybe if I can, let me think about that literally happens in this book. Um, so for that reason, the in betweens, I wasn't satisfied with the ending. It felt like a big thing that they set up that this was gonna cause some big issue. And then they're like, but nobody really has a price to pay in it, so there's no consequences. Um, other than Joe feels a little bit guilty. So.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

You.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Yeah, that's, that's the consequence for mass homicide at the mark of 6 million people in 10 hours, you feel a little bit guilty. Um,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Matt. You were gonna, you'll not like the book that was just written, just so you actually, you'll see. You'll still probably like it, but there's gonna be some things to bug you. There are

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

okay.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

some things that bug me.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Uh, um, but yeah, it's still a good book. I'm giving it a 7.8 out of 10.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Okay.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Um, it's still good. It's just not as good as the other ones so far. Um, the other ones are definitely better paced.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

So with this series, is it following like a different character each time?

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

No, it's mostly Joe. There's a side quest. It is literally called Rexi side. Quest follows Jackson, but that's it so far,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

and he

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Oh, okay.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

followed Joe. Yeah,

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

And that's the T-Rex Arms.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

the two Rex Island. Yeah.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Hands.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

That's funny. I mean, that's the one that I like. I'm kind of interested in

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

you should

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

the.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

this series for

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Yeah,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

without a doubt, it is another fun lit. RPG. It's not as good as Dun Carl, Carl, but it's just fun. You should like, you should listen to it.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

you should at least read up until that point. Read the first two books and then rexi so you know what's going on, and then decide what you wanna, if you want to keep going. I,

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

And are those on your audible?

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

uh, I dunno

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Hmm. If it's on there?

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Okay.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

You can log into my, do I have all of'em on there? I'll double check. I don't know if I have the first ones on there. I have everything else on my, the main, the author has his own app that he uses and it's kind of a pain in the ass. But I Audible takes a lot of money from authors, like a

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Mm-hmm.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

So if somebody has their own app and I can do it, I'll try to do it for people. he's one where I, I do that so he can get the$10 or 12 or whatever I spend instead of like a buck 50

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Well with that. And that's the Completion Chronicles that. Completion Chronicles.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Completionist.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Chronicles.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Okay. Um, right. I think that's all your guys' topics. Down to my lonely topic.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

You great lonely topic.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

It is a good one. Um, I was sitting in my car on Halloween night waiting for traffic to die down so I could make it home. And I was like, what do I wanna watch? And I was like, oh my gosh. I have not watched Werewolf by night this, this year. So, um, anybody who hasn't watched, uh, werewolf by Night is a Marvel one off. Uh, I think it's only like 45 minutes long. Uh,

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

it's not gonna be a one-off for too much longer.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Oh really?

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Yeah,

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Is, is that an a sad Yeah. Or

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

no, they're making more stuff. They've been,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

like the happiest Yeah. I've ever heard. Yeah. Like a

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

yeah.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

store. Yeah.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Yeah.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Like the t

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

should be our s Go ahead. Sorry. I was gonna say, that should be our score for something That's good. Like I just watched a movie and it was, yeah.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

there's um, this video going on, uh, a clip of trodden where he is like, yeah, yeah. Really weird. Anyway, that's what that reminded me of. so it's, they're doing more one-offs or they're continuing werewolf finite.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Werewolf by night. Sequel, I.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Oh, okay.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Cool.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

so this. I couldn't remember at the very end if she died or not when I was watching this. And I was like, and so I was like, is he gonna, I can't remember if this ended like tragically or not. Um, anyway, for anybody who hasn't seen it, um, don't listen to my explanation and go watch it. Um, but yeah, world finite is really good. You follow this, uh, character who you realize there's all these hunters of, uh, monsters that have been gathered to do like this. Um. Basically fight for what is called the bloodstone. uh, this guy has like a lot of kills and stuff. And so, but nobody really knows each other. Um, and there's like the daughter who was supposed to inherit it, but she didn't want anything to do with their family. So she now has to compete in this thing to get the bloodstone. well you find the G we're following is actually a monster himself and is friends with the monster. And I love how they like, introduce that when he's like, backing up and like the monster grabs him and he's like, oh, hey buddy. Like bats him. It's so funny. Um, and like I, this is like probably one of the chillest, Characters in Marvel, I think, uh, because he's like, he comes face to face with the other hunter and like the rules are, you kill other hunters to get this bloodstone. he comes face to face with her and he's like, I suggest we pass each other by. And she's like, what? He's like, I suggest we pass each other by. Um, but like if he needs to kill, he will instantly. Uh, and then Shenanigans ens Sue, and then, uh, the daughter, him and the monster that are trying to get out of this maze, together. And so they work together to get out, but then, uh, they find out that he's a monster. And so they lock him up with her to like punish her as well. And they're like, yeah, uh, we're gonna transform you into a werewolf. You're gonna kill her justice. Um, but instead he's like, uh. I actually really like the scene where he is like, I have to remember you, like you need to keep eye contact with me. And then he just like starts sniffing her and she's like, what the heck are, she's like, does this work for you? And he's like, He is like once kind of, um, but he is like trying so hard not to kill people.'cause he is a, oh, surprise, he's a werewolf.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Shocker.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Shocker. Um, but then like how he, like, I love how they have it in black and white and I love how like he gets out and then he just like starts massacring everybody. She, um, he finally kills everybody. And then it's basically her and him. And there's like this part where she has, um. She has the bloodstone, which will hurt him, but she doesn't ease it on him. And he like knocks her down to the ground. And this is where I was like, I can't remember if he kills her right here or not. Uh, either way I think it would've been good. Um, but then he, he leaves her alone, runs off and then like wakes up and his little monster buddy has like, been taking care of him that night. And he is like, she, she okay. He's like, yeah, yeah, there's fine, everything's good. And then like, color comes back to the world as they're like sitting there and just like chatting it up. Anyway, I am very excited to hear that there is gonna be another, uh, another one because I love those characters. Yeah. Anyway, so it was a really good Halloween watch. I'm really glad I picked that one to watch my car while I waited for traffic. Um, our shared topic alien. Um, I know this is Collin's favorite, so I'm gonna actually have Josh start off and I'll hear from Collin.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Uh. I have an interesting history with this movie. Uh, I was introduced to this series by watching Alien Versus Predator, the first one, and absolutely loved it. 10 out of 10, great movie. Um, super into it, but I wasn't really allowed to watch movies from this series, so I only watched Alien Verse Predator because my brother bought the series and he showed me that one. Um, so I didn't watch it for a very long time. And then I tried watching the first one once and was like, you know, it's just old. It just doesn't really work. It's not really scary. X, y, z, whatever. And then Conlin comes along and he's like, you gotta watch it. Um, you know, it's so good. And so I tried watching it again and I was like, you know what? This movie's awesome. And so I went back and explored more movies from the series. I watched Aliens, I watched The Alien Versus Predator Movies again, and I was like, wow, alien versus Predator could have been so good, but it wasn't. And, but Alien definitely worked for me that time. Uh, and so I watched Aliens and I didn't love Aliens, so I didn't watch anymore. Um, but Collin's favorite is Aliens and his second favorite, I think, is this one. Uh, rewatching it more recently, I do think it is a little bit dated. It didn't work as well for me this time. It's still a pretty good movie. Um, but I, I don't know why sometimes it works for me and sometimes it doesn't. I'm guessing because I kind of just like felt like I had to watch it this time's why I didn't feel like the anticipation or the what's gonna happen kind of stuff. I was just like, yep. This is happening now. This is happening. Okay. That was kind of funny. Okay. I didn't really love that part. Okay. We're along for this ride. Woo-hoo. Um, so my history with this movie is I would've said it's like a five outta 10. And then I really liked it and I would've told you it's a nine out of 10. Um, so I am landing on it for this week at, um, a 7.8 out of 10.'cause I do still know there's a lot of really good to it. Um, just didn't work for me this week, so I had to be honest about that. So that's, That's where I landed.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

All right. Come and tell Josh why he's wrong.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

So I actually think Josh is right. Um, but I love this movie regardless. The Reason is my favorite is because I can rewatch aliens a thousand times and still love that movie. movie, in my opinion, is one of the greatest first time watch movies you can possibly watch ever. once you've, once you've experienced the thrill of watching it the first time where it like grabs you and you don't know what's going on, especially when it's me and I'm a kid and I've never been introduced to Alien at all. I don't know about the thing coming outta people's chest. I know nothing. I'm going into this blind. time that you watch it, you're like, what the hell? the hell? What the hell? The entire movie. And I remember thinking that when I was like seven or eight when I first watched this, um. I, I think that those, what the hell moments really make this movie and it's not quite as satisfying of a second time watch because you've already had that experience. I still like it. I still think it's extremely well directed. I think the tension is fantastic. I think the atmosphere is very palpable. the music is really good. Like e every, every part of the movie making process is excellent in this movie, but it is not as re watchable of a movie, in my opinion, as number two is that saying it doesn't take away from the fact that this is still a great movie and deserves to be the cult classic that it is. It's a great monster movie. Like I said, monster movies are really hard to, to make work. Um. the acting is, it doesn't feel like an eighties movie to me. It feels like it actually is well acted where some eighties movies come across feeling like they're. Of that time period and the acting is of that time period. but the, some of the, I think a lot of the camera shots actually make it feel a little old the way that they were to film. It makes it feel old and, uh, I don't think they, they can really change that. So I don't know how you make it feel more modern, but I don't necessarily think you need to with this one.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Um. Yeah, I guess it, it's interesting'cause like you, you mentioned like you didn't know anything about Alien going into watching it the first time. And I think that did, um, make my viewing of it not as like impactful because like I did know about like the chest, uh, chest purses and like face huggers and things like that. And like I mentioned in a previous um, where with scary things, if they show me the creature, like if they linger on it, it makes it less scary to me. things that I will say I love that it wasn't CGI and I love how it was, um, actual props and things that they made for this. Um, is something that I miss about tv. I know it's very expensive to do that, but it is something that I think. Is missed in a lot of TVs, TV series and movies. Um, I think CGI should be too enhanced, not replace, um, but yeah, I, I don't know if I wasn't scared on this because that I noticed, and I think it's probably'cause of the platform I was watching it on. I was like, this is a very quiet movie. I don't hear like a soundtrack or anything. Um, so I think that might've been the platform I was watching it on'cause it was very quiet. I and I,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

movie. There's spikes, spikes of music, which is something I think is beautiful about the movie.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

oh,'cause like, to me, like, I was kind of like, I, I don't know it like, not bored isn't the right word, but I was like. didn't feel tense, like I felt like I should be watching this movie. So I was just like pretty chill watching this entire movie and I was like, Hmm, I do love how Ripley would get like mad at Mother would be like calling her names and stuff. Which mothers the AI the, the ship and stuff. And I did like Jones the Cat. I was so glad the cat made it. Um, because it was funny. I think, I feel like the last 20 minutes was just, I feel like the pacing was off for me'cause it felt like everything was like very slow and then everything happened in the last 20 minutes, which,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Hmm.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

um, was. What got me to be more invested, I think. And I loved the whole part of Ripley getting in, finally getting into the space shuttle. Like you see her like almost drift off.'cause she's like, I'm finally safe, it's fine, I'm good. And then she like, it brought you into a false sense of security. And then the alien made it on board too. And I was like so happy that she is a smart person because like she very calmly was like, just gonna put on my space, shoot, not doing anything suspicious. And then she's like, just buckling myself in. Don't you worry. And then like slaps the airlock and I was like, oh my gosh, thank like, I wasn't nervous at all the whole, but the whole time I was like. I want her in every horror movie because she does sensible things. Yeah. I loved it. Um, uh, yeah, I like, yeah, I liked Jones. I liked the i, the very end part. It was very, um, that to me was satisfying. Uh, but I was like, I feel like

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

too slow.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I felt a little too slow. Um, I feel like you could probably had everything that happened in the first bit be explained in 15 minutes and then you could have had, um, like the events happen, but quicker. I don't know. I don't know how I would've done it better, but, uh, I just, because I think it's been hyped up so much. Um, I think. Was probably why I felt that way. And then also I think the platform I was watching it on didn't have, because I don't think I even heard music in the like, intense parts. Like I think I heard the, the folly and stuff, but not the actual like music. So I think that might've taken it away.'cause I'm a very big music person with, um, shows. But mean, I was, I think I was telling, uh, Josh this, that I was like, I don't think that I would label this as horror. And he is like, what do you label it as? And I was like, sci-fi. He's like, it's a sci-fi horror.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Yeah, It's by horror.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

But like, I was like, how about sci-fi thriller? Um,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

but yeah, so I was like, I think. I mean, I'm happy that it wasn't like the horrors that I hate the horror movies I hate, so I would probably give it like a six outta 10 because I mean, I didn't hate that I watched it. Um, I do understand for the time that it came out, why people, it was like so big. Um, I feel like since then, uh, at that time, uh, sci-fi was always like hopeful about going to the stars and like exploring. And I think this was like the first one to be like, what if it isn't all great? One of them's actually monsters.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

What if it's actually monsters?

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

So, and I did like the reveal of the Android and them being like, actually this is what was actually going on. So I did, I did like that. Um. Uh, that, because that hadn't been, I hadn't known about that. And then that happened in the movie and I was like, okay, so I'm gonna bump it up to 6.5'cause of that. Um, but yeah, I was, not mad that we watched it.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Will you watch number two?

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Probably. Yeah.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Okay,

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

keep watching them.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

probably the movie of all movies. I can be like, Lauren, I want you to watch just this.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Just that.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

didn't like it as much as me. I love, I love number two. I love that.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

I don't think it's as good as the first one.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Um, interesting. Is the pacing in music better? No, I'm just kidding.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

pacing

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

It is, an action. movie, so yeah.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

It's very different. It's a very different movie.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Yeah.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

might actually like it better. I think. I think I was just. I wanted more action is probably what I wanted.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

You will

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

One.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

movie. They're completely different movies.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Con, what did you rate the first?

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

in both of them. And Sigourney Waiver is in both of them.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

it.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

okay, so I in a cabin somebody was watching all of the alien movies in a row.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Hmm.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I fell asleep, so I didn't see the first or second, or I don't know where I woke up at, but a rat crawled across my hand, woke me up, and uh, I have a spoiler that I woke up. Right. Have you seen all of them, Josh? No.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

that's Okay, I don't plan to.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Okay, spoiler, everybody. I wake up to an alien bursting out of Ripley's chest and she holds onto it,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

That is quite the spot.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

right? So it's like, I'm like, oh dang it. It was so funny'cause I knew Ripley was gonna make it in this one. And so I was like, is that like, I knew she was gonna make it and everybody else was gonna die. So I was like, is that also leading to me not being like, yeah, there's an alien on the spacecraft.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Hey, just so you know, in Morse horror movies, the final girl is the final girl and she lives, sorry. I spoiled them all.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Well, I mean, not in the one that I woke up to and there's one bursting out of her chest and she jumped off into a,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

the best one. Now, if you do watch the, if you watch aliens and really like it, if you get aliens three, get the director's cut.'cause it's way better like it is still got, it is a, movie with problems, but it is way better.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

Colin, what did you rate the first one?

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Oh, the first one to me is like a 8.7 around there.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Hmm.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

this movie, but I, it, it isn't as good on your second watch. It just isn't.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Hmm. Well that's what, um,'cause like I know you, you've said several times throughout. This podcast like that you love them. Do you know like what specifically is about this series that has you like latched onto'em?

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Uh, that's a really good question. I like good creature features. Uh, maybe that's part of the reason why I rated our other show a little bit higher.'cause like I said, I, I think it's really hard to pull off and when you do pull it off, I appreciate it a lot. Like, I think there are almost no good werewolf movies for real. I think most of them kind of suck. And so if you do get a good one, I give it extra points because you are one of the very few that don't suck. and this is one of the best creature feature movies, The alien is super cool. It's blood literally melts stuff. How much cooler can you get as a tell that stabs people, there's guns, there's insanity, the, they're just, they're just awesome. They're just awesome. Aliens are just cool. They're just, and they're creepy. I love the in alien isolation when you're playing it, you'll hear them like crawling along the vents. I hear it in aliens too, where they're like crawling in the ceiling or they're crawling underneath you. And I find that creepy, creepy crawly things creep me out. And the aliens do a great job of that. I think Ripley is one of the best characters in anything cinema. She is one of my favorite characters. Um, when I was a kid, I got super into the comics, I've got an entire box of aliens, comics that I would just read over and over and over again, along with aliens and PR versus pr comic books. I, I, I love the, the stories that are in it. I love the way that people envision them, and unfortunately, most of the movies don't live up to how cool some of these comics really are and the idea of the alien. I, I just like the creature aspect of it. my creature feature that is like Josh's Godzilla. I think I just like the creature.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Fair enough. Um, yeah. Well with that, wait, yeah, Josh, we did have you talk about this. I couldn't remember.

joshua-dietrich_3_11-04-2025_152725:

It is okay. I'm just the forgotten child in my family. We can just forget What I say. It's, it all doesn't matter. It's all good.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

middle,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

like? I keep hearing something that sounds kinda like a male voice. Do you

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

it sounds like a middle child of a podcast or something. No.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

just kidding, buddy. Nah, Josh is the absolute best ever. Lauren. Lauren's a little bit better, but Josh is the absolute second best.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Anyway,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I mean, unless there was another child that he might be the absolute third best

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

she. With that, uh, everybody. So love to Josh in the comment. Uh, tell us what your favorite, uh, feature creature, creature feature

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

feature creature. What? What is. your favorite feature creature?

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Yeah, I'm doing so good today, guys.

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Yeah, we are,

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

Um,

konlin-gappmayer_3_11-04-2025_182723:

I.

lauren--fellowship-_3_11-04-2025_182723:

and have a good week and we'll see you next time. Bye.
